Thailand Expects More Russians in 2015
Thailand expects the inflow of Russian tourists to increase over the current year, reports the Head of the Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT), Mr. Tawatchai Arunyik.
According to his data, the Russian market showed a downturn last year: the country had been visited by 1.6 million Russian tourists, which is an 8% year-on-year drop. "Despite economic problems in Russia, we are going to continue our promotional activities without changes. This year we are planning to focus on high-yielding segments and niche markets" noted the TAT spokesman.
For Thailand, Russian market is second most profitable after the Chinese one. "An average Russian tourists spends US$143 per day. He comes on a 10-day package tour for $1,200-1,500 per person" Mr. Arunyik explained.
Thailand's brand new global promotional campaign called Discover Thainess is coming to Moscow. "We are planning to advertise more actively, especially using Moscow public transport system" the Head of TAT concluded.
