Strengthening of the ruble has doubled the demand for tours to Europe
Because of the strengthening of the ruble, the demand for tours to Europe in April doubled in comparison to March , the press department of the tour operator TUI Russia reported.
The company explained that they analyzed the demand for summer tours for Early Bird action, which was held from December 2014 to April 2015. Based on its results, the overall sales growth was by 40%.
"After the strengthening of the ruble to the first week of April, sales have started to grow slowly on all destinations. This coincided with the traditional increase before May holidays. In parallel, we have launched a massive advertising campaign. As a result, in April sales as a whole increased by about 40%, while demand for European destinations increased by 2 times ", the press department quoted the words of TUI Russia analyst Xenia Mazurova.
70% of all sales of "early booking" were done for Turkey and Egypt. The third most popular destination was Greece, which last year ranked fifth in the list of preferences of clients of tour operator. Also among the most popular destinations this year there were Bulgaria, Spain, Montenegro, Cyprus, Italy and Croatia.
Compared to the previous year the most significant increase was noted for Montenegro (+43%) and Cyprus (+ 35%). Popularity of Greece increased by 17%, Egypt by 14%, and Turkey by 7%.
"The trend is that tourists prefer budget destinations . In addition, hoteliers gave discounts for Russian tourists. As a result, the average check for tour package in US dollars compared to last year fell by 22% to $ 706 per person," the press department of TUI reported.
The company added that the average depth of sales for early booking was for two months, which is 8% lower than the last year.
