Sri Lanka is in trend again
The situation with tourism in Sri Lanka is beginning to improve: although the tourist flow is still on the decline after the attacks of April 2019, but this decline is already only 20% by last year, and not all 70%, as it was in the first months after the attacks. This was reported by government officials. They also noted that tourists highly appreciate the security measures adopted in Sri Lanka.
“The Top-3 most popular exotic destinations for New Year’s dates among Tez Tour customers includes Cuba, Indonesia (Bali) and the Maldives. Holidays in the Dominican Republic, the Seychelles and Sri Lanka are also in demand. Moreover, the demand for travel to Sri Lanka for the New Year’s dates is 3 times higher than for the period after the holidays,” said the experts of Tez Tour.
Leading travel companies and hotels said that arrivals are being restored mainly due to independent travelers, budget tourists and tourists from Russia. Representatives of the local travel industry also note that group bookings from foreign tour operators, except Russian market, continue to fall. At the same time, Sri Lanka hotels significantly reduced prices. This is actually the reason of the growth in the number of budget tourists and, in particular, from Russia.
Russia is the only country, the arrival of tourists from which showed growth. For examp;e, the growth of Russian tourists in Sri Lanka in October amounted to 86%, these are 5 761 Russians who chose the beaches of this island for holidays.
