Sales of summer tours to Turkey are three times higher than last year’s figures
The volume of early bookings of tours to Turkey for the summer season of 2024 in mid-December exceeded last year figures three times, said Vladimir Rubtsov, CEO of the tour operator Fun&Sun.
According to him, Turkey is the undisputed leader among destinations for which early bookings have opened for the summer season of 2024.
The country is followed by the UAE (with a peak of demand for the March holidays), and then are Thailand, Russia, Abkhazia and Egypt.
As per Fun&Sun, for 2024, the vast majority of hotels in Turkey have left prices in Euros at the level of May-June 2023, and for some hotels they are now 10-30% lower than in 2023.
In these conditions, Vladimir Rubtsov explains, the cost of summer tours to Turkey depends mainly on the ruble exchange rate. Now it is relatively acceptable, and many people take advantage of early booking opportunities and buy tours at a good price. No one can predict what will happen with the ruble/euro exchange rate.
“Surges in sales before the New Year are traditional. The period from January 10 to January 31, 2024 will be most indicative to characterize the progress of early booking of summer Turkey. Then we will see how many people will reach agencies after the holidays and be ready to book Turkey in advance,” he believes.
Mr. Rubtsov also notes the increased activity of regional tourists in early bookings, emphasizing that this is a consequence of the company’s strategy to expand its presence in the regions.
“More than 55% of Fun&Sun tourists, who were sent in 2023, departed from regional airports. The growth in the share of regions was influenced by the expansion of available air transportation,” Mr. Rubtsov emphasized.
