Russian tourists are interesting in expensive exotic islands
“Russian tourists began to look for tours to exotic islands more often, but Turkey remained the leader by the number of search requests in April”, - the Association of Russian Tour Operators (ATOR) reports with reference to Yandex search service statistics.
In April 2017, Russian users of Yandex searched for tours 6.3 million times. This is 2% less than in the previous month, but 28% more than in April 2016. The leading foreign destinations in April 2017 were Turkey (20% of all requests), Cyprus (6.5%), Greece (6.4%), Thailand (5.5%), Tunisia (4.3%), Italy (4.2%), Spain (3.8%), Egypt (3.4%), Bulgaria (3.4%) and Vietnam (3%).
61% more often than last year Russians were interesting in expensive tourist destinations, such as Maldives, Bali, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Seychelles. In addition, in comparison with April of the last year, the number of requests for tours to EU countries increased by 27%.
Turkey in April became again the most frequently requested foreign destination. The most popular resort regions were Kemer, Alanya and Antalya.
Cyprus and Greece took the second line in the list of the most popular foreign destinations among Russian users of Yandex. Among Russians the most popular resort in Cyprus was traditionally Ayia Napa.
The number of search requests for Greece, against April 2016, increased by 27%. The most popular resorts of the country are Crete, Rhodes and Corfu islands.
Yandex users noticeably decreased their interest in Egypt: in April the number of requests was 47.2% less than in March. It is expected that due to the lack of positive news Egypt soon (probably already in May) will leave the TOP 10. Most often, Russians were interested in Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh.
