Russian tourist flow to Turkey exceeded 2 million over 7 months
The Turkish Ministry of Tourism has published a statistical report on the number of tourist arrivals for the first 7 months and July 2022. According to these data, 23 million international tourist visits were recorded in Turkey in January-July. This is 2,3 times more than in the same period of 2021.
Russia, which in the pre-pandemic season was among the leaders in terms of tourist flow to Turkey (3,75 million in 7 months of 2029), remains in the second place in 2022 due to the sanctions restrictions, leaving Germany ahead.
For 7 months, Turkey counted 2,197 million tourist visits from Russia, while from Germany – 2,992 million. Compared to the same period in 2021, the tourist flow from Russia increased by 41,36%, from Germany - by 37%.
Compared to the pre-pandemic 2019, Turkey missed 1,56 million Russian arrivals.
According to the results of 7 months of 2022, the TOP-5 also included the UK (1,8 million arrivals), Bulgaria (1,44 million) and Iran (1,28 million).
Relative to the same period of 2021, the share of the Russian market in Turkey's inbound tourism decreased from 15,41% to 9,54%.
