Russian tourist flow to Sri Lanka doubled over the first three months of 2023
According to the results of March, Russia again ranked first in terms of tourist flow to Sri Lanka. In the first three months, the volume of tourist flow from the Russian Federation more than doubled compared to the same period in 2022. Consistently high demand has allowed tour operators to extend charters for the summer. Tourists can make holidays in Sri Lanka in June by purchasing a package tour for $ 853 per person.
The Tourism Development Authority of Sri Lanka has published fresh statistics on the entry of foreign citizens into the country. According to the data, in March, Sri Lanka received 125 495 thousand foreign guests. In total for the first three months of 2023 335 679 tourists visited the country compared to 285 334 tourists for the same period in 2022.
All in all, from January to April 2023, 79 891 Russian tourists visited Sri Lanka. This is 2,11 times (or 112%) more than in the first three months of 2022, when 37 717 travelers arrived in Sri Lanka from Russia.
In January 2023, 25 254 tourists from Russia arrived on the island, in February – 29 084, in March – 25 553.
Tour operators, commenting on the statistics, said that the March demand for Sri Lanka remained as a whole at a high level. And in terms of bookings April began actively.
Good sales dynamics allowed tour operators - Anex Tour, Fun&Sun, Intourist - to extend charter programs to Sri Lanka for the summer season.
The operators will fly on Red Wings on the route Moscow - Hambantota (a/p Mattala) - Moscow.
