Russia and Greece to discuss the date of the resumption of flights
The date of the resumption of flights between Russia and Greece will be agreed next week. Information about this came on Tuesday, May 11, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece.
According to the report, the co-chairs of the mixed Russian-Greek commission, First Deputy of Foreign Minister of Greece Miltiadis Varvitsiotis and Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev agreed to meet again during the videoconference. It is planned to finally agree the date of the start of flights. The decision will depend on the epidemiological situation in both countries.
Officials clarified that from May 15, Greece will fully open its borders to foreign tourists. That is why the issue of restoring air communication with Russia is most acute.
As it was noted by Varvitsiotis, airlines consider interest of Russian citizens in travel to Greece in the summer season as increased. Also, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece paid special attention to the rapidly improving epidemiological situation in the Republic. The country is one of the "green", and every day 1% of the population is vaccinated, which makes it possible to arrange comfortable conditions of holidays for arriving tourists.
At the moment, Greece continues to maintain restrictions for the number of arriving Russian tourists - no more than 4 thousand per week. Tourists also need to have a negative PCR test for coronavirus or a certificate of a complete course of vaccination.
