On Day of Russia, Russians preferred to go Prague and Sochi
Prague and Sochi were the most popular destinations among Russian users of online hypermarket DaTravel.com for the June holidays devoted to Day of Russia (June 12), the press service of the company reported to Interfax.
Leaders on the number of tickets sold online on DaTravel.com for a period of three festive days in June were Prague and Sochi. On the dates between 12 to 15 June there were 14% of sold flights departing from Moscow to Prague and 11% from Moscow to Sochi.
The list of popular foreign destinations on the holiday dates also included New York, Barcelona, Madrid, and Tbilisi. In the past year, according to the company, the leaders in this period were Amsterdam, Milan, Nice, Rome, and Venice.
On average, Russian travelers were planning their June holidays a month ahead, the depth of bookings was 32 days. The average bill for travel from 12 to 15 June increased by 8.2% compared to the same time period of the last year and amounted to 14.5 thousand rubles. In 2014, an average bill was 13.4 thousand rubles.
