Oman is going to resume issuing tourist visas and accepting Russian tourists
The High Commission on the Situation with the Coronavirus of Oman decided to resume the issuance of visas at the request of local hotels or travel agencies to those tourists who are going to visit the Sultanate in organized groups.
This is due to a decrease in the number of infected and deaths from COVID-19.
The Omani embassy in Moscow has confirmed this information and assured that Russian citizens who received such visas would be able to freely enter the country. However, the procedure of issuing of permits has not yet been approved. The consulate is awaiting clarifications from the Omani Foreign Ministry and hope that all the details will be announced this week.
At the same time, individual travelers still cannot visit this Arab state. All other types of tourist visas (at the airport upon arrival, by the invitation of a local sponsor, or at the embassy) will not be issued, the diplomatic representative explained.
Russians can get to Oman only on connecting flights. Despite the fact that in November Royal Flight and Nordwind airlines received licenses from Rosaviatsia to fly in Muscat, Russia did not resume air traffic with this state. At the same time, experts note that in the condition of still closed borders of many resort countries, Oman (along with the UAE) can become an alternative to the traditional "winter" destinations of Southeast Asia.
