North Korea was visited by 423 Russian tourists in 2016
“North Korea can attract Russian tourists, as this is a very exotic direction, but it will never become massive - last year the tourist flow amounted 423 Russians”, - said the press-secretary of the Russian Travel Industry Union (RCT) Irina Tyurina. She noted that tourists can visit this country only through a travel agency. "There is a category of tourists who go with interest to see socialism there. The number of them is very small and mostly they are residents of Primorye and the Far East regions. According to the Border Guard Service of the Russian Federation, last year 423 Russians visited DPRK for tourism purposes, in 2015 - 474. But this direction will not become mass due to the specifics of this state", - the expert said. On August 24 the North Korean company NKorean announced the beginning of its activities on the Russian market as a travel agency that will offer Russians tours to the country. Representatives of the company, founded in 2017, said that it is a travel agency approved by the government of DPRK and it can guarantee security for tourists in North Korea. The company offers tours to North Korea lasting from 4 to 15 days. The cost is from 51 thousand Rubles including accommodation in a 4-stars hotel, full board, transportation along the route, excursions and guide services, as well as flights from Vladivostok to Pyongyang and back.
