Lavrov: number of tourist flow from Russia to Thailand may soon reach a record level
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted a significant increase of the tourists flow from Russia to Thailand, the indicators may soon reach a record level. "Speaking of tourism, we are pleased to note that this year in the first five months the number of Russians who have visited Thailand has increased by 37%", - Lavrov said after meeting with Thailand's Foreign Minister Don Pramavinay. "We have no doubt that soon we will reach a record level of visits by Russian tourists to this country, which was achieved in 2014 and amounted 1.6 million people", added the minister. Lavrov also expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation in the investment sphere and announced plans to hold a meeting of the Russian-Thai intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation before the end of the year. Earlier in the Moscow office of Tourism Authority of Thailand reported that the Kingdom expects to host more than a million Russian tourists in 2017. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, Thailand is in the TOP 10 of the most popular abroad destinations.
