In January-May Russian railways transported 20% more passengers abroad
“Transportation of passengers by long-distance trains to foreign countries increased by 19.6% for the period from January to May 2017 in comparison with the same period of the last year”, - said in the press service of Russian railways (RZD). The passenger traffic of trains to foreign countries amounted almost 264.2 thousand people for the first five months. The highest growth is observed in such directions as Germany (+ 32.5%), Finland (+ 30.8%), Italy (+ 20%), Austria (+ 17%) and China (+ 14.1%). "Direct and transit international passenger transportation is carried out to 11 countries of Europe and Asia by 20 international routes", - the press service of RZD noted. For instance, since December 2016, the train N 13/14 "Strizh" Moscow-Berlin operates on the rout. Since January to May 2017 it has transported about 10 thousand passengers.
