In January Eilat resort hosted 80% of Russian tourists
According to the data of the Israeli Ministry of Tourism, in January 2018, 21, 6 thousand tourists from Russia arrived in the country, which is 10% higher than in the previous year and 35% higher than in January 2016. According to the department, totally in January 2018 256,600 travelers from all over the world visited Israel (excluding the tourists of “one-day” and cruise liners), which is 22% more than in first month of 2017 and 56% higher against the year before. Thus, the share of Russians in the total incoming tourist flow in this country amounted 8.4%. As for the winter beach holiday at Eilat resort on the Red Sea, according to Israeli statistics, from September 3, 2017 till January 25, 2018 111 flights were carried out from Russia to Uvda Airport with an average load of 80%. Thus, totally 17 643 guests from Russia came to Eilat for this period, which is 5% more than in the same period of the last year. The share of Eilat in the Russian tourist flow to Israel in January is 81%. In the framework of the program of subsidizing flights to Eilat, the Ministry of Tourism of Israel refunds the carrier companies and consolidators the amount of € 45 for the transportation of each passenger to Uvda airport.
