Cyprus hotels did not raise prices for the Russian market for summer 2020

Russian tour operators started early booking of tours to Cyprus for the summer season of 2020. The first thing market participants are talking about when commenting on the early booking of Cyprus is that island hoteliers maintain their previous prices for the 2020 season without a significant increase. There are several reasons for this. 
Firstly, the problems with British Thomas Cook – the local hotels had to quickly adjust plans for the 2020 season. Secondly, according to the Cypriot press, in the context of the rapid restoration of tourism in Turkey and Egypt, Cyprus hotels do not risk to significantly increase prices, especially for the main source markets (which include Russia). 
In addition, as Oksana Volkanova, the director of development of the tour operator Ics Travel Group, notes, the attractiveness of the Cypriot product at the early booking stage is also added by slightly decreased Euro exchange rate. “So, prices for tours to Cyprus in Rubles have not increased, but, on the contrary, have become more profitable compared to last autumn,” the expert emphasizes. 
Other market participants confirm the similar estimates about the affordable cost of tours to Cyprus for the summer of 2020. 
“Now the prices of tours to Cyprus for April 2020 start from 361 Euros per person. So it’s premature to talk about any kind of price increase,” comments Marina Makarkova, the head of PR department of Coral Travel tour operator. “No changes were planned in the pricing policy on the Cyprus destination,” said representatives of the tour operator Mouzenidis Travel. 
According to market participants, during the early booking campaign discounts in Cyprus hotels for the summer of 2020 vary from 15 to 30%, but there is a discount up to 50% for tours at the very beginning or end of the season. According to the tour operator Biblio-Globus, the average discount is 20%. As Marina Makarkova from Coral Travel adds, discounts on early booking now are provided by almost all accommodation facilities in Cyprus: from budget 2* - 3* hotels to 5* ones.
