Booking.com paid a fine of 1.3 billion rubles to the budget of the Russian Federation
According to Federal Antimonopoly Services (FAS) of Russia Booking.com paid a fine of 1.3 billion rubles (ca. 17 mio USD). The case against Booking.com was initiated after an appeal by Opora Rossii an organization representing small and medium sized businesses. FAS had warned the online accommodation giant over rate parity clauses back in December 2019, saying it had violated competition law and occupied “a dominant position” in the accommodation aggregation market. In August 2021, the FAS fined Booking.com 1.3 billion rubles. Representatives of the company said they were disappointed by the decision of the court, but at the same time they promised to pay the fine in due time.
