ATOR: demand for tours abroad at February holidays grew by 20-30% in 2017
“The demand for foreign tours has increased by 20-30% against the same period of the last year”, - said the Executive director of the Association of Russian Tour Operators Maya Lomidze on Tuesday.
"Traditionally, the February holidays were not in demand, especially in the last two crisis years. In this year, we see a turning-point. According the tour operators, the demand exceeds one of the last year by 20-30% and even higher than in 2014", added M.Lomidze.
According to her, the fact that the ruble has strengthened is not so much more important for the consumer, as the fact of stabilization. And he has the confidence, that the currency fluctuations will not happen. And this is one of the main factors, which has influenced on the demand’s surge for holidays in February this year.
The tourists prefer short tours to Europe, prefer to travel to Italy, France, Hungary, Spain, Israel. Ski tours to Austria and Italian resorts are in demand. Also increased the demand for long destinations, such as Thailand. In this destination the Russians are trying to buy the tours for about 10 days and more.
According to her, the demand in domestic tours at February holidays has increased by 5-10%.
The cheapest foreign tours to Europe now cost from 40 thousand Rubles. The price of traveling across Russia depending on the type of holiday. So, the guided tour in St. Petersburg will cost from 15 thousand Rubles, Krasnaya Polyana with air transportation - about 40 thousand Rubles.
