ATOR: about 1.5 million tourists from Russia can visit Thailand in 2017

“The tourist flow from Russia to Thailand can amount 1.5 million people this year, exceeding the pre-crisis indicators”, - said Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Maya Lomidze. "Among Russians Asian countries are in great demand and, according to preliminary estimates, Thailand can reach the number of 1.5 million tourists from Russia, which is a very good indicator, because before the crisis in 2014 there were about 1 million. So Thailand is one of those countries that may show results better than in the pre-crisis years", - added M. Lomidze. According to her, summer is not a high season for Asian destinations. But thanks to this, prices for holidays are lower than in winter, and Russian tourists actively visit Thailand and Vietnam at this time of the year. In the Moscow office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand reported earlier that the Kingdom expects to host more than a million Russian tourists in 2017. This winter Thailand was the most popular tourist destination for Russians. In the first quarter of this year the country was visited by almost 489 thousand tourists from Russia, which is 36.5% more than a year ago.
