Aeroflot says it is yet to carry 230,000 passengers of Transaero until December 15
Russia’s flagship carrier Aeroflot will carry 230,000 passengers with tickets of Transaero airline by December 15, Vitaly Saveliev, general director of Aeroflot, said in an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel. "Approximately 230,000 people (are yet to be carried — TASS) including those of Biblio Globus (tour operator —TASS). We plan to do it — as it was earlier announced — before December 15, if nothing happens," he said. Earlier TASS reported that Aeroflot will provide transportation to clients of the Biblio-Globus tour operator who have tickets of Transaero. For this purpose the aircraft of Orenburg airlines, a subsidiary of Aeroflot, will be used. It concerns the following flights: Moscow-Hurghada Moscow-Sharm el-Sheykh and Moscow-Punta Cana. Aeroflot won’t provide transportation to passengers with Transaero tickets for all other routes sold by tour operators. General Director of the Biblio-Globus tour operator Alexander Tugolukov told TASS that the company had bought Transaero tickets for 200,000 clients for a total sum of 4.5 billion rubles ($71.4 mln). The decision on the bankruptcy of Transaero airline, which has accumulated a 250 billion rubles ($3.9 mln) debt and is now under the operational control of Aeroflot, was made at cabinet meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on October 1. The air carrier closed the sale of tickets.
