Turkey – the results of 8 months of 2018

The Russian tourist flow to Turkey for 8 months of 2018 has overcome the four-million mark. Only in August, 910 thousand of Russian tourists visited Turkey. This is 25.59% more compared to the same period in 2017. Totally for the summer months, together with May, 3 million 662 thousand people arrived in Turkey. According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, 27 million foreign tourists visited the country in January-August (almost + 23% compared to the same period last year). Russia continues to lead in the structure of the incoming tourist flow of Turkey with a share of 15.49% of the total number of all foreign arrivals (in 2017 - 15.16%). In August, 5.4 million foreign visitors visited Turkey (+ 15.56% by August 2017). The Russian market has maintained a confident leadership in the last summer month with a share of 16.91% of the total entry flow of Turkey: 910 thousand tourists from Russia came to Turkey in the last month of the summer. We may note that after a relatively low growth in July 2018 - 898 thousand tourists - (+ 7.43%, compared to July 2017), the Russian market in August showed a more significant growth dynamics (+ 13% by August 2017). Nevertheless, the June achievement both in the increase of the tourist flow and in the number of actual arrivals from Russian Federation is an absolute record: almost 990 thousand (+ 29.6% by June 2017). The Turkish tourism department still maintains its previous forecast for record indicators of the Russian market in 2018. According to it, about 6 million Russian citizens will visit Turkey. Recall, that in 2017 4.7 million Russians visited Turkey.
