Turkey in 2017 returned the title of the foreign direction number 1 for Russian tourists

Turkey in 2017 returned the title of the most popular foreign destinations for Russians. According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the country, the country was visited by 4.7 million Russian tourists, which is 444% or 5.5 times more than the year before, when there were 866,000 tourists. “The current result confirms the fact that for 13 years Turkey was the leading popular abroad resort among Russians. In 2017 Turkey triumphantly regained this title in the first year after the opening of the direction", - said the Press Secretary of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RCT) Irina Tyurina. Up to now 2014 was considered as the best for Russian tourism in Turkey, when the country, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, was visited by 4.5 million tourists from Russia. According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, totally the country was visited by 32.4 million foreign tourists. In addition to Russians the TOP 5 of incoming markets includes Germany (3.58 million), Iran (2.5 million), Georgia (2.4 million) and Bulgaria (1.85 million).
