Tour operators noted the fall in demand by 15-20% for Abkhazia
“The demand for trips to Abkhazia for the summer 2017 decreased by 15-20%”, - according to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) with reference to the data of tour operators. "According to the estimations of tour operators, the demand for Abkhazian tourist products this summer has decreased by 15-20%. Hoteliers report about 10-12% decrease in accommodation", - informed ATOR. Among the reasons for the decline in demand the Association called the return of Turkey on the market, as well as rising of prices. In addition, the weather prevented the growth of the tourist flow. By mid-June, the air temperature on the Black Sea coast fluctuates around 20-25 degrees, the water temperature does not exceed 20 degrees. "Tourists in June prefer warmer foreign destinations - Greece, Spain, Cyprus. More over Europe this year has become cheaper for Russians, in contrast to the Russian south", - believe in ATOR. The first special offers from Abkhazian hoteliers appeared in April. Now there is a second and more global wave of price reductions, but it concerns only the low season. Hotels in Abkhazia have already reduced accommodation prices to 20%, but these measures have not yet led to an increase of tourist flow from Russia.
