The Russian tourist flow to Hainan increased by 251% in 2017

The Russian tourist flow to Hainan Island last year reached a historic level of 284 thousand people. This is 251% more than in 2018. "By the end of 2018 we plan to increase this figure by another 10%", - said E Kaizhong, the Deputy Director of tourism of Sanya. According to him, interest to Hainan has grown from other abroad markets. In total last year the Chinese resort has hosted 1 million tourists. The main reasons for the growth of tourist flow from Russia, according to the authorities, are stabilization of the ruble exchange rate, increasing demand in the educational tourism segment, expansion of the range of tourist products. "This year we are paying a lot of attention to the development of Hainan as an excursion direction. We also plan to open new hotels, parks and new elements of infrastructure", - explained E Kaizhong. “The further growth of the tourist flow will be possible due to the increasing of charter transportation. We will discuss this issue with tour operators, perhaps we will start subsidizing flights”, - said the Deputy Director of Tourism Sanya. Observers, meanwhile, note that the situation with charters may be hampered by prolonged coordination of Chinese authorities. Recall, because of this "Pearl River" and "Matryoshka Tour" tour operators could not fulfill their flight programs.
