The Russian Foreign Ministry hopes for an early signing of the agreement on visa-free travels with Iran
“Agreement on visa-free organized tourist trips for Russian citizens to Iran may be signed in the near future”, - according to the response of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
"The relevant departments of Foreign Ministers of both countries are making efforts to liberalize the visa regime for tourists. This question was one of the central problems on the meeting of Directors of relevant departments held on November 21-22 in Tehran.
According to M. Zakharova, the document is planned to consider in the Russian authorities departments for further handing to the government within the period of the next two - three months.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, after the validation of the intergovernmental Russian-Iranian agreement in February 2016, concerning the simplification of the conditions of mutual trips, the number of Iranian citizens visiting Russia with the business, humanitarian and tourist purposes has increased more than two times.
