The number of tourists from Russia to Georgia increased by 10% for two months
From the beginning of the year, from January to February, 155.6 Russian tourists arrived in Georgia. This figure increased by 10%, compared with the same period in 2018. This was reported by the National Tourism Administration in Georgia.
According to Interfax, the number of Russians, who arrived in Georgia in February increased by 14.7% (up to 69.7 thousand people). This is 14.8% of all visitors over February – the total number of which is 469.5 thousand people. The number of tourists remaining in the republic for more than 24 hours amounted 247.7 thousand.
In addition, during the two winter months, 988.2 thousand foreign visitors (+ 12.8%) visited Georgia. 533.6 thousand people (+ 50.1%) visited the Republic as tourists, and the rest were guests who spent time in transit in Georgia.
The National Tourism Administration in Georgia notes that in terms of the number of tourist arrivals from the Russian Federation to the Republic, Russia has shifted to the 2nd position, and Azerbaijan occupies the first line (175.8 thousand tourists). The TOP 5 of source markets in Georgia also included Armenia (148.1 thousand people), Turkey (125.9 thousand people) and Ukraine (20.6 thousand people).
