The number of Russian citizens visiting Georgia for the year increased by more than a third
“In January-August 2017 955,500 Russian citizens visited Georgia, which is 34% more than in the same period of 2016”, - informed the Georgian Interior Ministry's information and analytical department. In August, the number of visitors from Russia increased by 27.8% in comparison with August of the previous year - up to 229.3 thousand people. The share of Russians is 21.2% of all, who visited Georgia in the last month of the summer, breaking the record for the last 11 years. According to the number of citizens, who visited Georgia for eight months of this year, Russia is on the third position after Armenia and Azerbaijan. In January-August 2017, 5 million 59,1 thousand foreigners visited Georgia, which is 18.9% more against January-August 2016. Among them, 2 million 402.7 thousand people were tourists (an increase is 29.4). In 2016, Georgia was visited by 6 million 360.5 thousand, including 1 million 37.6 thousand citizens from Russian Federation (growth for the year by 12%).
