The flow of tourists from Russian Federation to United Kingdom grew by almost 50% in 2017
“In the first half of 2017, 118 thousand tourists from Russia visited UK, which is 48% more than in the same period of the last year”, - it was told at the national tourist office VisitBritain. According to the office, spending of Russian tourists in UK from January to June 2017 amounted 97 million pounds, which is 82% higher than in the first half of 2016. According to research company ForwardKeys, air tickets from Eastern Europe to UK on dates from October 2017 to March 2018 grew by 8% against the same period of 2016. "VisitBritain is carrying out a number of marketing actions and events in Russia. In October 2017 an online cross-country year campaign of science and education in Russia and Britain was launched. The campaign is targeting on tourists from Russia planning to travel to UK to study English and aims on the promotion of Edinburgh, the south of England, Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester and Liverpool as one of the best destinations for traveling and learning English", - noted in VisitBritain. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, in 2016 215 thousand Russians visited UK for tourist purposes.
