The flow of tourists from Russia to Japan grew by 42% in 2017
“In January-November 2017 the tourist flow from Russia to Japan increased by 41.8% up to 71.5 thousand people, which is a record figure for the entire history of statistics”, - reported Japanese National Tourist Organization (JNTO). According to JNTO, in November 2017 7,800 Russians visited the Land of the Rising Sun, which is 56.5% higher than in the last year (5 thousand visitors). According to Japanese statistics, more than 80% of travelers come to Japan from Asia. The TOP 10 of the incoming market includes South Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam. In general, nearly 2 million 378 thousand tourists visited the country (plus 26.8%). The growth of interest of Russians to Japan is connected, in particular, with the fact that from January 1, 2017 Russia and Japan mutually simplified visa regime. Also the simplification of visa regime has led to an increase of the flow of tourists from Japan to Russia. In particular, in the first half of the year it increased by 2.4 times only in Primorskiy Region.
