Russians mights be be allowed to use two international passports at the same time
The Russians may be able to have two international passports, the head of the Federal Migration Service Konstantin Romodanovsky said to Interfax. "We are thinking about how to come up with an initiative to allow the citizens to have two international passports. This will create additional comfort", he said.
Konstantin Romodanovsky noted that now two international passports can be issued to a citizen only in case of a need.
Now the Russians get international passport of two types - the "old" five-year and the "new" biometric designed for 10 years. The old passport which is valid for five years has 36 pages, the new passport with 10 years validity has 46 pages. However, for those who travel often the number of pages is not sufficient for visas. Also, a second passport can be useful if the first is "stucked" in one of the consulates for visa and its holder need to go somewhere else.
