Russian tourist flow to Turkey exceeded 5.7 million people
Russia remains a leader of incoming tourism in Turkey. Autumn shows amazing results. Over the first 10 months, more than 5.7 million of Russian tourists visited Turkey, which is 16% of the total foreign tourist flow to Turkey. The Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Turkey announced data on foreign arrivals for 10 months of 2018. During the reporting period, 35.56 million foreign tourists arrived in the country (+ 22.43% compared with the same period in 2017). The TOP-5 of key entry markets included: Russia with the first place (5,724,672 people, + 25.4% compared with 10 months of 2017), Germany (4,155,646, + 24.57%), the United Kingdom (2,158 304, + 36.88%), Bulgaria (1 968 262, + 27.69%) and Georgia (1 792 478, minus 13.48%). The number of arrivals of the Russians in Turkey for 10 months by 40% ahead of the total figures of the UK and Bulgaria markets. Russia's share in the entry flow of Turkey was 16.09% (a year ago - 15.71%), Germany - 11.68% (a year ago - 11.48%), Great Britain - 6.07% (5.43%), Bulgaria - 5.53% (5.31%), Georgia - 5.04% (7.13%). Antalya became the most popular destination for foreign tourists in January-October: almost 34% of all foreign arrivals (12 million people). On the second line is Istanbul with a share of 31.88 (11.3 million people), on the third - Edirne (9.13%, 3.25 million tourists). In October, Turkey was visited by 3.75 million foreigners (+ 25.48% compared with October 2017). The Russian tourist flow was again the first: this month 604 thousand of the Russian citizens arrived in Turkey, which is 36.5% higher than in October 2017. The share of the Russian Federation in the entry flow of Turkey in October was 16.09%. Over 5 months of the beach season - from May to October - 5.2 million tourists from Russia came to Turkey. By the end of October, the TOP-5 of source markets of Turkey also included Germany (15.7% of the market), the United Kingdom (7.04%), as well as Bulgaria (6.79%) and Georgia (4.08%).
