Russian tourist flow to Antalya increased by 75% in January
The active booking of tours in Antalya by Russians for the New Year holidays allowed the Turkish resort to sharply revive the "low season" in January. And the Russian market once again confirms its leading position of source market in Turkey.
The results of the tourist flow for January 2019 were summed up in Antalya. The results are record. For the first time in its history the Turkish resort hosted 142 thousand foreign visitors: an increase amounted almost 54% compared to January 2018 and compared to January 2014 - 26%.
Such high achievements of January of this year in Antalya are connected with Russia. Thanks to the expanded flight programs of tour operators for the New Year holidays, January showed a record by the number of Russians arriving in Antalya: 37.3 thousand people (+ 75% compared to January 2018).
In terms of the number of visits to Antalya, Russian tourists confidently bypassed German travelers, who were also more active than previous years. The German market grew by 52%, exceeding 29 thousand people.
In January, the gap between Russians and Germans from the results of other markets was very significant. For comparison: about 7 thousand tourists came from Poland, about 4.5 thousand from Great Britain, 1850 people from Ukraine, just over a thousand from Kazakhstan.
As predicted in Antalya, in 2019 it is precisely between Russian and German markets will start the competition for the number one market in Turkey. According to Antalya hoteliers, the resort, which last year was visited by 13.6 million tourists, in 2019 can host 15-17 million foreign tourists.
According to the local tourist industry, about a million tourists Antalya can already get in April-May due to more affordable prices than in summer season.
