Rosturizm (Federal Tourism Agency) appreciated tourist season 2016 as a successful.
“Summer tourist season 2016 was successful, without force majeure and bankruptcies of travel companies”, - told reporters the head of the Federal Tourism Agency Oleg Safonov on Monday.
“The season was stable, according to the previously planned regime, there were no extra returns, everyone, who wanted to go on a journey – did it. At the same time, the season underwent in unusual circumstances. Two main directions of beach holiday of Russian people were closed - Egypt and Turkey, but in the middle of the season the President decided to resume tourist cooperation with Turkey, " - he said.
"We were working actively to ensure the Russian tourists by possibility to have holidays abroad. We were closely cooperated with tourism authorities of the other countries - Bulgaria, Israel, Greece, Thailand, Vietnam in order to correct price policy and create favorable recreational opportunities for our citizens ", - said O.Safonov.
He stressed, that in many directions we achieved high results – the tourists flow in Tunisia increased by 600%, the Russians were traveling to Bulgaria actively. "But most important thing, for the first time in the history, is that Russian resorts became the most best-selling product in the high season 2016. The tourist infrastructure of the country has considerably changed for the better", - the head of the Federal Tourism Agency stressed.
