More than a million of Russian tourists have already visited Spain

During the first 9 months of 2018, Spain has already been visited by more than a million citizens of the Russian Federation. The leader in the number of arrivals is Catalonia. By the end of the year, the Russian tourist flow to Spain will exceed the figures of 2017. According to Frontur, from January to September 2018, Spain was visited by 1.017 million of Russian holidaymakers. This is a 5.3% increase compared with the same period of 2017. The Russian tourist flow for the three quarters almost came close to the figures for the entire 2017 (1.15 million people). Russia still retains the tenth position in the TOP 10 of inbound markets of Spain. Only in September, Spain was visited by more than 162 thousand tourists from Russia, which is 7.6% more than in September 2017. As noted in the materials of Frontur, Russia entered in the TOP-3 countries which showed the best growth of tourist flow during this period. Recall, that 2013 was the record year for the Russian tourist flow to Spain, when the country was visited by 1.58 million of Russian travelers. Certainly, by the end of 2018 the Russian tourist flow will not reach this figure, but the volumes of 2016 and 2017 will be exceeded. The Russian tourist flow for the three quarters 2018 almost came close to the figures for the entire 2017 (1.15 million people). According to the results of the three quarters of 2018, the British are the leaders in incoming flow to Spain (2.3 million tourists, minus 3.1% by September 2017). Then follow Germany (1.4 million people, -3.1%) and France (more than 1 million tourists, + 6%). In total, in September, Spain hosted 8.9 million of foreign tourists (+ 0.5% compared with September 2017).
