Predictable six‑month visas drive Russian travel demand to the UK in 2026

Russian tourists are booking more trips to the United Kingdom this year. According to the Russian tour operators' association (ATOR), bookings have gone up by 10% to 91% compared to last year, depending on the company.  Most tourists still choose London, but many also visit Edinburgh, take tours around England and Scotland, or go for special events and sports trips.  

The main reason? The UK’s visa policy is stable and predictable. Britain still accepts visa applications in Russia, hasn't closed any visa centers, and gives tourist visas that are valid for at least six months. Tour operators say this reliability is what keeps travelers interested.  Visa approvals are also high. From March 2025 to March 2026, 93% of Russian applicants got their visas.

There are no direct flights between Russia and the UK right now. So travelers have to fly with stopovers. The most popular route is Moscow – London via Istanbul or Qatar. Round-trip tickets cost about 60,000–70,000 rubles ($650–$760).  Cheaper options are available through Yerevan with FlyOne and Wizz Air – prices start at 42,000 rubles ($455) round trip.  For those who want more comfort and better connections, flights via Dubai or Abu Dhabi with Emirates, Etihad, or flydubai cost between 90,000 and 130,000 rubles ($975–$1,410).  

Even with the extra travel time, the UK remains a popular choice for Russians who want a European trip without extra worries about visa problems.
