In 2019 ATOR predicts a rise in prices for Turkey by 30–50%
The increase in prices for trips to Turkey was caused by the demand not only on the Russian market, but also on the European one. In the summer 2019, the cost of a tour to the resort can grow by 30–50%, comparing with the prices for 2018. “With a probability of 95%, Turkey will reconsider prices for the summer 2019. And it is not connected with the reciprocal payment in Euros. The base cost of the product in Turkey will be higher than this year. In reality, prices can rise by 30–50% compared to those that were in the past summer,” said Maya Lomidze, the executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR). She connects the price increasing with the high demand for Turkish resorts, as well as the wishes of representatives of tourism industry of the country to earn more from such increasing demand. Some major tour operators have already launched the sale of tours to Turkey for the summer 2019: for instance, TEZ Tour and Biblio-Globus. At the same time, Aleksana Mkrtchyan, the director of Pink Elephant travel agency network and Elena Simakina, the director of Fantasy Island travel agency, have noted a drop in demand for early booking of tours in Turkey.
