In 2018 Turkey has surpassed Russia in popularity among tourists
Travel service Tutu.ru analyzed all the tours, purchased by the end of December 2018, with vacation dates from January 1 to December 31, 2018 and compared the results with the same period of 2017.
The analysis showed that last year Turkey occupied the first position in popularity ahead Russia. At the same time, the share of passengers, who flew to Turkey, almost increased two times - from 17% to 30%.
In 2018 the three leaders looks like this: Turkey, Russia and Thailand. In 2017 Russia was the leader, Turkey was on the second position and Thailand – on the third.
The ten most popular countries remained almost the same as in 2017, and the preferences of tourists have changed a little. The popularity of Turkey, Cyprus, Abkhazia and the UAE is growing. Slightly decreased the Russian resorts, Thailand, Tunisia, Greece and Vietnam.
Spain dropped out of the TOP 10: in 2017 the country was on the 10th position and in 2018 – on the 13th.
Prices for tours for the most popular destinations have grown. Thailand went up most of all - by 22%. On the second line is Russia - 21%, then Vietnam (14%). Prices of package tours for Turkey, Greece, the United Arab Emirates and Cyprus remained almost at the same level.
The most budgetary resorts of 2018 are Russia and Abkhazia: a price for package tour per person is around 250 Euros.
In 2018 a third of Russians chose vacation on an all-inclusive basis. On the second position in popularity are the tours with breakfast (29%). 7% of tourists chose an ultra all inclusive system, and for the year the popularity of this type of food increased one and a half times - by 43%.
In 2018 most often tourists booked hotels like a year ago, about 40% of all tours were booked in 3* hotels. The second line is occupied by 4* hotels - 23%, the third - hotels without stars. The demand for holidays in 5* hotels increased by one third for the year - from 11% to 14.4% of the total number of tours.
