In 2018 Indonesia was visited by a record number of Russian tourists
According to the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, in 2018 125,700 citizens of the Russian Federation visited the country, which is 7% more than in 2017. This is a record result in the history of Russian-Indonesian relations. In terms of growth of tourist traffic to Indonesia Russia once again is on the first position among all European markets.
In total, last year Indonesia hosted 15.8 million foreign visitors, which is 12.6% more than was recorded in 2017. The largest number of tourists arrived in Indonesia from Malaysia, China, Singapore and Australia: in total, travelers from these countries accounted half of the total inbound tourist flow (about 8 million people).
The three most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia include Bali, Jakarta and Batam and Bintan islands, located near Singapore.
According to preliminary data from the representatives of Indonesian tourism, Bali is the most popular tourist destination for the Russian audience: the resorts of this island, where a direct flight from Moscow was opened in October 2018, account more than 80% of the total Russian tourist traffic.
Tour operators sell tours to Indonesia only on regular flights. According to the assessment of the leading players, in 2019 the Indonesian destination has good opportunities to increase the dynamics of tourist arrivals from Russia. Experts expect growth in demand at the level of 7-10%. Among the factors that stimulate the interest of tourists to the Indonesian resorts is the direct transportation from Moscow to Denpasar, as well as the activity of tour operators, who are constantly expand their proposals in the country.
ANEX Tour notes that in January 2019 sales of tours to Bali increased by 10% relative to the same period last year. In turn, the specialists of Intourist tour operator say about the growth of bookings of tours to Bali for the summer months – around 15%. The demand for tours to Indonesia this season from Biblio-Globus tour operator has grown 3 times compared with the same period last year, and the depth of sales reaches June.
