“233,000 Russian citizens visited Georgia in January-March 2018, which is 25.5% more than in the same period of the last year”, - said the Head of the National Tourism Administration Georgy Chogovadze. According to him, in March the number of Russians who visited Georgia increased by 37% in comparison with March 2017 - up to 91.5 thousand people, which is a record number for the first month of spring over the past 12 years. During January-March of this year, 1 million 463.6 thousand foreigners visited Georgia - 15.5% more than in the same period a year earlier. At the same time, the Head of administration noted that the number of tourists, who spent more than 24 hours in the country, increased by 28.2% - up to 659.3 thousand people. By the number of citizens who visited Georgia Russia is on the fourth position after Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey. A positive trend of incoming flow is also recorded from Israel, Great Britain, China, Iran, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, India, the USA, France and other countries. It is expected that this year the number of foreign visitors will exceed 8 million people and by 2025 it will increase up to 10 million people. In 2017, 7 million 554.9 thousand foreigners visited Georgia, which is 18.8% more than in 2016, including 1 million 392.6 thousand citizens from Russian Federation (plus 34.1%).
