Georgia notes a record increase of the number of Russians visiting the country

“In January-May 2017, 371.1 thousand Russian citizens visited Georgia, which is 22.2% more than in the same period of 2016”, - said the Georgian Interior Ministry's information and analytical department. According to the ministry, in May the number of guests from Russian Federation increased by 14.5% in comparison with April and by 16.8% against May of the previous year - up to 99 thousand people. This is the highest May figure for the last 11 years. According to the number of citizens who visited Georgia in the period of the first five months of this year, Russia is on the fourth position after Azerbaijan, Turkey and Armenia. In total for five month of this year Geogia was visited by 2 million 329.7 thousand foreigners, which is 9.7% more than in January-May 2016. In 2016, 6 million 350.8 thousand foreigners visited Georgia - 7,6% more than in 2015, including 1 million 37.6 thousand citizens of Russian Federation (12%.growth for the year).
