Georgia intends to open border with Russia in August
Georgia expects to open a land border with Russia in August this year. This was announced by the special representative of the country's Prime Minister Zurab Abashid.
In addition to land borders, the Georgian side is ready to resume direct flights to Russia.
“We hope to open the border in August. All this time we talked about the fact that the Georgian side is ready to restore direct air links with the Russian Federation. But now in a situation when the pandemic is not over, it is probably too early to talk about it. As soon as the situation allows, the Georgian side will be ready to start direct flights to Russia. But the answer depends on the decision of Russia and the epidemiological situation,” said Georgian side.
In turn, the Federation Council of Russia reported that it is too early to talk about serious intentions from Georgia - the atmosphere in Tbilisi - almost a year after the anti-Russian demonstrations - has not changed.
