From Russia to China in 2.5 Minutes and 40 USD
The cross-border cable car is being built within the framework of an intergovernmental agreement between the Russian Federation and China, concluded in September 2015. The symbolic start of the project was given in July 2019. It will connect Blagoveshchensk in Russia and Heihe in China, and is scheduled to open in August 2026.
The highway stretching over the Amur River is not that long — only 976 m. But the uniqueness of the Amur River crossing is that no one in the world has ever connected the two countries in this way before.
The cable car is being built simultaneously from two sides, and around the clock. It is planned to place not only the cable car station itself, but also a border checkpoint, a Duty Free, other shops, a restaurant with panoramic views, and view terraces.
The cable car will consist of two independent lines with two cabins. Each of them is designed for 110 passengers and a conductor. The cable car is capable of transporting 6,8 thousand people per day in both directions. The cable, which itself weighs 32 tons, can withstand such a load. And the height of the pillars above the Amur River exceeds 70 meters.
At the moment, it is planned that the ticket price will be about 3 thousand rubles, the journey time will take only 2.5 minutes. This can be convenient for tourists who will have more time for excursions and entertainment, and for businessmen who will be able to travel to negotiations in one day. The operation time has not been approved yet. Previously, the cable car will work from 7 to 22 hours.
