Demand for travel to Japan remains high
The tourist flow from Russia to Japan increased by 76% in the first quarter of 2025. According to data published on the global website of the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), 29.4 thousand Russians visited the country in January-March 2025.
This is 75.8% more than in the same period a year earlier. In March alone, 18.8 thousand guests from Russia visited Japan, which is almost 78% more than in the same month of 2024.
As BSI Group emphasizes, only a few destinations can boast such impressive growth in the Russian market. Tourists have definitely “got a taste” of Japan, thanks to the available connecting flights via China, tour operator Space Travel emphasizes.
According to tour operator Russian Express, during the cherry blossom season every second client who booked a tour through the Online Express system chose to stay in Tokyo. About 18% of travelers stayed in Osaka, and 12.5% went to Kyoto.
