Croatia expects record tourist flow from Russia in 2022
In 2021, Russians made more than 145 000 trips to Croatia. Such statistics on the Russian tourist flow were published by the tourism office of the Republic of Croatia in Russia.
According to the head of the Croatian tourism office, Mr. Rajko Ruzicka, the final result of 2021 exceeded the initial forecasts and almost approached the pre-pandemic level. In 2019, 154 thousand Russian arrived in the country and about 994 thousand night stays of Russian travelers were recorded in Croatia.
“In terms of the number of arrivals in Croatia, Russia also leads for the first 20 days of January. According to this indicator, the Russians were in the TOP-5 in December,” notes Mr. Ruzicka.
As for the forecasts of the Croatian side, the tourist flow in 2022, compared with the pre-pandemic year 2019, can grow by 30-35%, reaching 200 thousand.
These forecasts are based on the current and planned flight programs of Russian airlines. Thus, the winter season 2021-2022 has already set a record by the number of direct flights to Croatia. If before the pandemic in winter, only Aeroflot flew from Moscow to Zagreb several times a week, then in this winter period, flights to the Croatian capital are on the schedule of three airlines at once.
“Aeroflot flies daily, Nordwind - twice a week, S7 operates a weekly flight from January 23. For the first time in winter, flights to Zagreb to be started from St. Petersburg - Rossiya airline launches a flight program from the end of January.
The Croatian tourist office expects sufficient transportation volumes in the summer season 2022 as well.
