Bulgaria hosted 12% more Russian tourists
According to the press service of the Ministry of Tourism of Bulgaria, from January to March 2017 about 28,700 Russian tourists visited the country, which is 12% higher than the figures of the same period in 2016. As stressed Ms. Angelkova the Head of Bulgarian tourism, the Russian market is one of the main generating markets for Bulgarian tourism industry, and the Bulgarian side is actively working towards a sustainable attraction of more Russian tourists. The Minister recalled that in 2016, Bulgaria was visited by more than 580 thousand Russians. It is the fourth line in the incoming list. According to Angelkova, forecasts for the Russian tourist flow for the current year are even better than they were last year. Especially it concerns the summer period, when Russian tourists come to Bulgaria most According to the data of Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism, the positive dynamics were noted on the Russian market also in the winter season: from December to March, 37.5 thousand Russian tourists visited the country. This result exceeded the last season’s one by 11.4%. Nikolina Angelkova assured the Russian side that Bulgarian government is making serious efforts to develop infrastructure at the resort areas and national tourist complexes in purpose to attract more Russian tourists.
