ATOR: the demand for holiday in Turkey three times exceeded the forecasts of market participants

“In September and October Turkey was visited by three times more tourists than market participants had expected. The number of Russians rested there reached 300 thousand”, - told reporters on Thursday the executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Maya Lomidze. "Before the opening of air traffic with Turkey, the leading foreign destinations in summer period were Tunisia, Dominican Republic, Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Malta, Croatia, Montenegro. After the resumption of flights to Turkey, during few weeks it entered into the TOP 5 of most popular destinations. We have assumed, that due to the late opening of charter programmers less than 100 thousand Russians have the opportunity to flight to Turkey for the period end of September - mid-October, but unexpectedly this number reached 300 thousand people", - M.Lomidze said. She also noted that among Russians the demand to Turkey was lasted until the end of October, whereas in previous years it has already demonstrated the decline at this time.
