According to preliminary forecasts, at least 23,5 million Russians went abroad with all the purposes of their visits this year (10% more than in 2021). At the same time, about 40% of outbound flow falls on 17 destinations which have a tourist nature.
As per experts, in 2022 over 9,4 million trips of Russians will be recorded to 17 key foreign tourist destinations, including Abkhazia. This is 22% more than in 2021 (7,7 million). That means that outbound tourist flow grew in 2022 at a faster pace than the total outbound flow.
The figure of 9,4 million takes into account both group and independent travelers, but does not include trips to the "near abroad" countries.
Below is a forecast of the Russian tourist flow for 2022 and its dynamics by 2021:
Turkey – 5,3 million (+13% by 2021),
Abkhazia - about 1,1 million (-25%),
UAE – about 1 million (+60%),
Egypt - less than 900 thousand (presumably -10%),
Thailand - 410 thousand (growth almost from zero),
Maldives - 205 thousand (-7%),
Dominican Republic - 92 thousand in the first quarter (-48,6%),
Sri Lanka - more than 85 thousand (growth by 6 times),
Serbia – more than 80 thousand (+26%),
Cuba - about 60 thousand (-60%),
Qatar - about 60 thousand (+ 55%),
Goa (India) - about 60 thousand (growth almost from zero),
Israel - 48 thousand (growth almost from zero),
Seychelles - 30 thousand (-5%),
Venezuela - 25 thousand (three times increase),
Iran - 20 thousand (+27%),
Indonesia - 20 thousand (growth from zero).
According to the New Year’s data of tour operators, among foreign countries the United Arab Emirates is in the first place, then is Egypt, and Thailand on the third line.
