ATOR: out coming tourism market in Russia will grow by 57% in 2017
“The out coming tourism market will grow by 57% in 2017, the leaders will be Turkey, Thailand, Spain, Cyprus, Greece and Italy”, - according to the data of Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
"In total, 11.62 million people will go to rest on the 10 most popular beach destinations in 2017, which is 57% more than a year ago and 15% more than in 2015. But this is still 18.8% less than in 2013", - the association said in a statement.
ATOR adds that Turkey, Thailand, Spain, Cyprus, Greece and Italy will become the leaders of beach destinations this year, if to sum up the results of the out coming tourist flow for three quarters.
The association explains that Turkey exceeded the forecast estimates for the beginning and the middle of the year - initially analysts said that 3.5-3.7 million Russians would visit the country. According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, the country was visited by 4.1 million Russians since January till September 2017. Turkey partially attracted the flow of tourists from other popular destinations - Thailand, Cyprus and Greece.
"Although in 2017 the out coming tourism market in Russia could not return to "pre-crisis" indicators as a whole, it undoubtedly shows recovery and growth in comparison with 2015 and 2016. In fact, among the TOP 10 countries of this year only Turkey and Cyprus could overcome the tourist flow figures of 2013 as well as "new" destinations like Tunisia and Vietnam. The other European destinations still have not reached the same level", - the ATOR report says.
