“More than 10 million Russian tourists will go on vacation this summer via tour operators, about 80% of sales of all package tours are for Turkey and Russia,” reported Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
"The sales of tour packages for the summer this year grew by 10%. The largest increase is shown by such areas as Russia (plus 20%), Tunisia (plus 10-15%), Turkey (plus 15-20%), Montenegro (plus 10 %). Greece, Spain, Cyprus are at the same level as last year, while the demand for Bulgaria among some tour operators decreased. In total, around 10.5 million tourists will rest via tour operators at main mass resorts. Of these, 3.5 million will rest at domestic resorts and about 4.5 million in Turkey. The majority of Russian tourist chose beach holiday, however, many people prefer to combine it with excursions. The main categories of tourists are couples and families with children,” the Association reports.
As ATOR noted, the average price for summer abroad tours for a family of three persons increased by 29% compared with last year and amounted to 103 thousand Rubles (1,411 Euros). The average cost of a tour in Russia is about 74 thousand Rubles (1,014 Euros).
The Association underlines that Turkey is the undisputed leader among summer destinations because of the good price-quality ratio. The average price for a family at the country's resorts this year is about 110 thousand Rubles (1,507 Euros).
According to ATOR, the third position was taken by Tunisia. Its share among all destinations is 12%. Hammamet and Sousse resorts with accommodation in 4* - 5* hotels are in the greatest demand among tourists. The average cost of tours to Tunisia is 80 thousand Rubles (1,096 Euros) for two persons. “Almost all Russians come to Tunisia via tour operators. According to preliminary estimates, the number of tourists in Tunisia over the summer months will be about 650 thousand organized Russian tourists,” the Association added.
On the fourth line is Greece. The share of the destination is about 7%. Russian tourists prefer to rest on the islands of Crete and Rhodes. The average cost of a tour to Greece this summer is 120 thousand Rubles (1,644 Euros). About 350-370 thousand organized Russian tourists will visit Greece for the three summer months.
Cyprus closes the TOP-5 destinations with 5.5% share. The average cost of a tour to Cyprus this year is about 100 thousand Rubles (1,370 Euros). It is expected that in the summer of 2019, around 280–320 thousand Russian tourists will visit Cyprus via tour operators.
Also in the TOP-10 are Spain (according to forecasts, about 200-220 thousand organized tourists from the Russian Federation), Thailand (about 170 thousand tourists), Italy (about 150-170 thousand tourists), Bulgaria (about 100 thousand tourists), Montenegro (less than 100 thousand tourists).
