Almost 773 thousand Russians visited Turkey from January to August
As it follows from the statistics of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, the country from January to August was visited by 772,7 thousand Russians, more tourists came only from Germany. This figure is 84% less than in the same period a year earlier (4,8 million).
TOP-5 source markets also includes Bulgaria (532,4 thousand), Ukraine (520,8 thousand) and Great Britain (465,2 thousand). In total, from January to August, 7,26 million foreigners visited Turkey (a year earlier there were 31 million).
Most often, travelers visited Istanbul – 3,2 million, Antalya – 1,4 million, Edirne province - 981 thousand, Artvin - 383 thousand and Mugla – 304,3 thousand.
Almost 440 thousand guests arrived from Russia to Turkey in August (-59%). The second place was taken by Great Britain – 260,8 thousand, and in the third place is Ukraine with 255,7 thousand. In total, 1,8 million tourists visited the country in the last month of summer (a year earlier – 6,3 million).
On August 1, Russia resumed direct flights to Ankara and Istanbul, on August 10 - to Antalya, Dalaman and Bodrum. Turkey now is one of the few countries where Russian tourists can fly. COVID-19 test is not required to travel, but it must be done upon return to Russia.
