After successful May holidays Italy is steadily growing for upcoming summer season
The small increase of the tourist flow in Italy, which began in 2016, continues this year. As the tour operators said, the recovery is noted not only for May holidays, but for the whole summer season. According to the Deputy General Director of Carlson Tourism company Maria Malysheva, May has grown by 10-15%, but they could not reach the pre-crisis volumes. The other operators also say about successful May sales. In particular, PR Director of BSI Group Svetlana Baranova noted a good depth of sales - active early bookings for these dates began in February-March. The group tours to Rome, Florence and Venice are in demand, as well as medical and recreational programs at Montecatini Terme and Abano Terme resorts. The market players also agree on their estimates for the summer season, waiting for the good figures with positive indicators. They are noting that the direction is booked with the depth until the beginning of September. In Svetlana Baranova's opinion, the number of tourists wishing to spend summer vacation in Italy has grown by 20% this year. "We have a good demand for island resorts, in the top - Sardinia and Sicily. In continental Italy, Liguria is leading. Sells of combined tours are not bad too - beach holidays, cities of arts and thermal resorts. Among individual tourists - the tours with visit of small cities in Italy, plus rest on the lakes are more popular”, - she added.
